Mũmbi Kaigwa honoured in Cairo, Egypt, at CIFCET 2016

The Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre (CIFCET) was founded in 1988 as Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre. After it concluded its twenty-second edition in 2010 it was suspended/adjourned in 2011 until 2015.

The festival was reintroduced in 2016 from 20th to 30th September.

That year, a large number of Arab and international theatre companies participated, in addition to a long list of Egyptian productions. The festival included six workshops led by major international artists from Chile, USA, Pakistan and India.

There were also four major panels focusing on Arab theatre and the West scheduled on the Fringe.
